How Do You Define Success???
Each of us has a unique definition of the word SUCCESS. There is no one definition fits all. In business and in life, it is important to define it in your own words or your own way. Because whatever it is, it will motivate you in your pursuit of what you consider success.
For me, success is living a life that has a harmony of purpose, resilience, and joy.
Purpose in what you do fulfills you. And for me it is more about making a difference in the lives of others instead of just doing things for myself. Don’t get me wrong. There’s nothing bad in putting yourself first. And in fact I do believe that before you can share your life to others, you need to cater first what you need for yourself. But there’s gotta be more to life than just me or you. What I’m trying to say here is that, find whatever purpose that ignites your soul. Because that flame will certainly take you to where you wanna go. It’s not only what we are here for, but it will also lead us to the kind of life we aimed as goal. And for me, empowering other women is at top of my list. Even when I was younger, I already see myself helping others specially women to feel good about themselves. I didn’t know how but here I am doing what I love to do. Zig Ziglar says is best: You can get everything in life you want if you will just help enough other people get what they want.
I was asked few times why I’m so open to my tips and tricks in making my paper flowers. Am I not afraid of competition? And there was even one follower who made a comment in one of my pricing tips that said, I’m not in the position to share tips regarding the matter since I’m only new in the business. But that doesn’t deflate my spirit. I find purpose in doing what I do. I was a beginner ones and how I really hoped someone is kind enough to share crumbs of their knowledge. I give not because I have so much of everything, but I completely understand how it feels to have nothing. I want to share what I know and what I learned because I don’t only believe in myself, but also, i find a great joy and fulfillment in seeing the potential of others. Getting to where I wanna be in business and taking along my followers with me, is no doubt my definition of living a life with purpose successfully.
Now let’s talk about resilience.
Resilience: Merriam-Webster online dictionary define it as : the capability of a strained body to recover its size and shape after deformation caused especially by compressive stress. For me, it’s more than just that in life. Resilience is our ability to bounce back with grace in whatever life throws us as adversities. In business and in our pursuit of our dreams, we will inevitably face challenges, trials, and stumbling blocks along the way. And to stay in track, possessing an abundant dose of resilience is what will give us HOPE that there’s a spark of light at the end of a very dark tunnel of uncertainties . It will help us sustain and withstand whatever hardship in our way. It’s more than just dusting ourselves up whenever we fall. But standing head up high and treat those dust as glitters that we sparkle along our way. It’s about how we talk to ourselves in our down moments. It’s about becoming self aware of our thought process and learning which ones to let go or which ones we let in.
JOY- Some would define it as happiness. In some degree yes. But for me, joy has a more profound meaning. It is a deeper feeling of peace and contentment wherever in life you maybe. Don’t mistaken it to just settling to what you have and not dreaming bigger at all. No it’s not. What I meant is that, wherever we are in our life’s journey, and we find a way to embrace it, and enjoy it, we’re already found some measures of joy. It is knowing you are living a life you were meant to live. It is about seeking and finding peace in our decisions, love in our relationships and again, purpose in life. Yes it’s about being happy of where we are in life. And though we have aspirations for the future and new frontiers that we’ve yet to conquer, we are genuinely satisfied with our lives - mistakes, triumphs and all. It’s about the sense of fulfillment of not letting the pressure to fit into societal expectation box, but authentically fitting in your own.
I’m not doing this blog because I’m the world’s most successful woman. That would be too narrow and presumptuous on my part. Like you, I'm still a work in progress. I’m sharing this to inspire others that simply defining success in your own term and in your own way , would eventually get you to where you wanna be.
